We made it to the zoo today! I was pretty determined to get there today and all week there was a chance for rain. When I looked last night I saw that it wasn't until afternoon so I was thrilled. The weather was perfect! We went early because the Children's Zoo is free and I just wanted to get an early start, I'm glad we did. It was a little cooler and breezy in the morning and not as crowded. I'm pretty sure we saw everything!

Yes, even the snakes! Brennan insisted...

Thrilled to see the sharks in the entrance! He is not even going to know what to do with himself at Sea World!

♥ him!

About as tall as a pygmy goat:)

The river otters put on quite a show:)

The only picture of us, not the greatest, but at least we got one. One of our favorites, the penguins:)

I love these fun stress free days with Brennan. I see many more zoo trips in our future:)

Lions and Tigers and Bears!

We took a spur of the moment, very fun filled trip to the zoo today:)

We (or I) had planned to stay home today since it seems like we're always running around somewhere. I had been wanting to go to the zoo one more time before it got really cold, but I didn't think it was going to happen. This morning the sun was too bright to resist so I packed layers just in case and we headed out. It was perfect! We weren't on any time restraints, Brennan was in such a good mood-it was a really nice trip.

They had their spooky Halloween decor out;)

They had a little station set up near the bears with real bear fur and this bear paw with nails you could try on-Raarrrr!:)

We saw some of our usual stuff and some new stuff that we don't usually see. We usually don't get to the big cats or the bird house or the herpitarium, but we visited new territory and Brennan was so excited! He said his favorite part of the zoo is the snakes and this is the first time we've seen them. Although since he has a great love for animals, usually he has a new favorite every time we go;)

Today was also sort of a new experience for us because we actually took the time to read about the animals. Usually we sort of rush through everything and I'm not sure Brennan would have been as interested as he is now anyway. Brennan loves books and he really enjoyed me reading to him about the different animals. We have been reading about endangered and extinct animals at home so it was nice to point out to him the animals in real life that are endangered.

Roooarrr!!

We also saw the butterflies (my favorite!) These 2 beautiful butterflies were flittering around us together. They reminded me of Reese and Scotlyn♥

Brennan is the most fun little boy to spend my days with and I am so lucky to have him and to have the time to spend days like this with him:)

Zoo Friends

We went to the zoo a couple of weeks ago and its sad that I'm just now getting around to posting it:( We have been very busy this summer. We usually have something planned every day and every evening! We have done various things, such as going to the zoo, going to the movies to see Cars 2, play dates, a Little Gym camp, T-ball, swimming, the list goes on and on:) We also enjoy our days at home playing around the house too!

This trip to the zoo was a little different. Usually we go to the Children's Zoo first, then to see the bugs and butterflies, penguins, monkeys, etc. This time we went to pet the sting rays first. It was the first time we had done this and it was so much fun! The day we went was a very nice breezy day, not too hot so it sort of felt like we were on vacation. Brennan loved it! We stayed in there for quite a while until he was ready to go. He also pet the nurse sharks you see in the picture above. They had a species of hammerhead sharks in there too and Brennan loves hammerhead sharks so he was very excited about that! He really wanted to pet that one, but they never got quite close enough-maybe next time! I think that will be something that we visit every time we go:)

Every time they would come up on the side he could touch them, he would get so excited!

Of course the penguins are always top on our list. This day they weren't quite as entertaining as usual, but we still enjoyed them. I told Brennan they were still trying to wake up:)

Brennan insisted several times that we go see the fish. The St. Louis zoo used to have different aquariums set up inside one of the main entrances, but they don't anymore so I was lost at where to find the fish. If he wasn't so persistent that it was one thing he really wanted to see, I wouldn't have tried so hard to find them. We were directed to a general section of the zoo and stumbled across the hippo tank which is sort of underground and that was the ticket. Brennan was satisfied with looking at the fish swimming right in front of him:)

We did look at the hippos for a bit, but you know they really aren't all that exciting:)

We saw the elephants too. There was a baby elephant that was born last month. They have a naming poll on the zoo's website so Brennan and I went on and he voted for the name he liked:)

He had a little lesson about bees outside the insectarium, he told me later that bees won't hurt you unless you do something to them...he must have been paying attention:)

Spending my days with this sweet little boy=Pure Joy!

Zoo Day

The weather has been so nice lately so Brennan and I took a trip to the zoo today.

I love the "butterfly house". It's so calm. peaceful. beautiful.

Brennan and I both love love love the penguins! We spent the most time in there. Everyone kept walking through and we just stayed and hung out:) Brennan thought it was hilarious when the penguins would splash around. One was doing a lot of "talking" and he thought that was pretty funny too. The puffins were putting on a show jumping in the water and Brennan loved that too.

When you walk out there is a little shop-of course they want you to buy something! Well, we usually don't buy souvenirs at the zoo so the first time we went through I said no to a stuffed penguin. Brennan decided he didn't want to ride the train because he wanted to eat his snack and you can't eat on the train and he decided he didn't want to ride the carousel because he wanted to go back to see the penguins. So when we went through the second time I let him get a penguin. He was so happy! Tonight he was reading books to him...penguin books:)

We learned that Brennan is just a little taller than a river otter:)

This is probably one of the first pictures Brennan has actually smiled for me in a very long time. He went on picture strike or something lately-I'm sure it has nothing to do with the thousands of pictures I have taken of him in his lifetime;)
