Make a Wish!

Today we took a trip to The Galleria. Of course it's a mall which equals shopping which equals not much fun for Brennan. He was so good though.

We found this big water fountain and I told Brennan about throwing coins in to make wishes.

He was all about the throwing coins in part, but not so much for making wishes yet:)

I, of course, joined in the fun and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to guess what I wished for;)

Who I live with...

Yep that's right I live with Spider Man....and Iceman and Lightning McQueen and Buzz Lightyear and Zurg and the list goes on and on:)

Today Casey told me that the other day Brennan said he was Iceman, Casey is Spider Man and I am Firestar. (All characters from Spider Man and Firestar is the girl). When he dresses like Spider Man he also talks about how is Peter Parker turning into Spider Man. This was him "web slinging" but it looks more like a rock and roll sign;)

Magic House

Brennan and I had a very fun trip to The Magic House today. That place is so awesome! We stayed forever today-Brennan was already tired on the way there, but he is just the type of kid that goes and goes and goes, but once he stops he is out. I had to make him leave or he would have just kept going. Of course he fell asleep in the car on the way home:)

At some point for some reason I realized he was wearing the same shirt as last time we went. I looked back at our last Magic House adventure to confirm.

I was looking through the pictures and noticed that we only did one or two of the same things this time and we were there quite a while both times. That tells you how much there is to do at this place.

He was fishing in this little pond.

They had little fishing poles with magnets and you catch the fish.

Then you take your fish across the room and drop them in a smaller pond with a 'current' and they float along under this clear plexi glass in the floor and you can watch them float along back to the pond. He did this many many times!

This little supermarket was just like a real supermarket.

They had a cash register with play money, a debit/credit card machine, lots of groceries, shopping baskets-everything.

Brennan loved this too. He kept telling me to buy something and he was standing at the register and when I would say thank you after 'checking out' and walk away, he would say "Don't forget to get a movie (or banana or soup, etc)"

I told him he would be a good salesman:) The first time (out of about 20) he told me "Thank you. Have a nice day." He cracks me up!

There is a new Bob the Builder exhibit.

He was finally ready to climb on the beanstalk and we got kicked off:( We went earlier than it opened-maybe for members or something, but only certain things were open. They had some school field trips and they were allowed on there so we didn't realize it was closed. We planned to go back, but had so much fun with everything else we never got back there..

This is random, but Brennan always asks when he washes his hands at the sinks in public "Is this just my size?" This one actually was so I had to get a picture of him at it.

He was changing the tire on this car:) Papa would be proud!

The water table was of course a must do again, water is his favorite:)

I was so proud of Brennan for making this triangle by himself at the water table.

This little restaurant is a riot! They have all of these table set up for parents and kids to 'dine' at and the kids were hilarious. They were all telling us to have a seat and they would serve us. Brennan even took a break from cooking to have a piece of pizza with me;)

Brennan is totally a 'monkey see, monkey do' type of kid so when he saw someone go down the slide like this, he was all for it.

I wish with my whole heart that Reese and Scotlyn were here and I really feel like I deserve my babies. I'm sure it's no surprise that I would make that statement, but I have really been having these strong emotions lately. I know there have been many feelings of guilt and there still are although thankfully they seem to be less and less frequent. Very thankfully because I feel like I realize the more important feelings that I need to focus on when those feelings aren't consuming my mind. I find myself evaluating every move I make with Brennan and realizing more and more that yes, I am a good parent. Not perfect, but very patient, very loving, very attentive. Overcoming the feelings of guilt sort of makes it harder because it is making me realize time and again that I do deserve to have my babies here.

I entered the world of counseling again. I received 6 sessions through my EAP program late last year and decided I wanted to go back and luckily they approved me for 6 more. I know that my friends and family don't mind listening to me and I know in my mind that 7 months isn't a long time when you're faced with something of this magnitude, but I feel like people who haven't been through something like this may think at this point that I wouldn't have so many strong emotions anymore, but I do. I've always felt that counseling was mostly a validation of my feelings, which was good and has been helpful in the past. Now I'm looking for more ways to cope, to deal with things. Talking through them helps alot, holding them in helps at times, and writing helps and I definitely need to do more of that-which was suggested by a friend and my counselor. I haven't written enough and I'm regretting it. I sort of felt like if I was going to write that I needed to be writing for someone to read which I know isn't the case. I think I'm also afraid of writing things that I don't particularly want others to read so I just keep it in. It doesn't go anywhere except around and around in my head, which is definitely not helpful. He also told me something I hadn't heard before and then I heard it again later that same week and it was really thought provoking. He said that by me wanting to continue to move forward in having another baby (whichever form it may be) shows that I have a lot of love for my children if I'm willing to risk being hurt again. Then I heard the same thing, phrased differently, something about being brave. See and that's the thing, I do love my children so much, more than life itself. I don't think of it as a sacrifice for myself, I think of it as giving a gift to myself. So then I think, am I being selfish. Maybe people think since I have a child, why do I need more. Well, I don't think it matters what you've been through-if you crave the miracle of creating a life then nothing is going to make those feelings disappear and they are so strong it's hard to overlook. Having children has always been my biggest dream and it still is. It's so crazy when I stop to think of everything I've been through. I'm not saying this to feel sorry for myself or for anyone to feel sorry for me, but really it's quite unreal in my mind sometimes how this has all played out. I love big families. I never really thought an extremely large family was for me, but I did want 2 or 3 kids. Casey wanted 2 and we had Brennan and then of course got pregnant with Reese and Scotlyn so it was kind of a joke that our mind was made up and we were having 3. Well, now I want a lot of kids. I would take as many as I could have. There's something about this loss that makes you realize how precious life is, not that I didn't before, but it's just different. Wanting more and more of those precious lives in my world. Not to replace my girls, but somehow to try to fill that void that can really never fully be filled. It's disheartening to think of a future knowing the huge void that is going to be there forever and ever. And to think that we have little control over the size of our family or whether or not we can even have one more baby. Helpless comes to mind. I feel very helpless in living out my biggest dream.

I really try not to let myself get caught up in the whole unfairness of the world in people having babies when they shouldn't. It's too overwhelming and can never be explained. Naturally at times I do though. I have to stop myself and think that it's not fair to the child for me to think that way. Even if their parents don't deserve them, they do deserve a life. Very often though, I think 'What did they do to deserve that baby?' or 'How can they have 5 kids and I can't have the family I planned to have, I was supposed to have?' and I most definitely feel like I live a very different life than most people.

I have asked Brennan a couple of times if he wants another baby and the last time he said "Yes, but they won't go to Heaven?" Why should my little boy have to worry about whether or not another sibling would go to Heaven?
I was looking for some other books and stumbled across this and thought it would be a great book for Brennan. My feelings were validated when I read this post by another mother who lost her twin boys. Of course Brennan doesn't completely understand because he is only 3, but he does know a lot about his sisters and I think this book has given him something to focus on and be able to ask questions while reading through the story. I always want him to understand-as much as can be understood from something like this anyway.

Splish Splash!

Tonight Brennan had his first swim lesson! He was grinning ear to ear the whole time!

I signed him up at the Y a few months ago and we tried basketball first because I wanted to get him into some sort of physical activity. There isn't a whole lot for 3 year old boys so I was really excited when I found basketball. Well, he seemed to like it at first and then by the second session he decided he wasn't participating anymore. We took him out and got a credit toward something else since we had only attended 2 sessions, so I decided on swimming lessons.

We are so lucky to have access to a pool at my mom's and my dad's during the summer. He really enjoyed swimming last summer so I thought he would like it, but I wasn't really sure how he would be with a teacher he didn't know. I just pictured him wanting me to get in with him-no thanks;)

Well, he absolutely loved it as you can see:)

He is rarely the kid who volunteers to do something first. He has come out of his shell a lot, but he is still timid and shy at times with people he doesn't know. Well, he just jumped right into the activities, volunteering to go first.

By the end he was swimming laps in the pool by himself! Splishing. Splashing:)

I suppose the problem came when class ended. Brennan wasn't ready to go. I mean he really wasn't ready to go. The teacher had to bring him out of the pool. Then once we got into the room to get dressed he fought me to put his clothes on, crying, saying he wanted to go back, then he wanted to go somewhere else to swim. He did not want to go home. Then it was "I don't like my house!" screaming and crying all the way to the car! I'm thinking-'these people are probably wondering what is so bad about our house that my child is screaming that he doesn't like it'. Oh my! I guess all things can't be perfect and what more can I expect from a 5:30am wake up time and no nap;)

My Love

I'm not sure how I would get through most days without this magnificent little character:)

Tea Party:)

Brennan had a tea party at school today:) All the kids dressed to their best! I tried to get there early enough to get a picture of all of the kids together, but I was too late. They already had their coats on playing outside.

I did get a picture of their fancy dining area:)

Casey took Brennan to school today, he said she had a sign at the door that read "Please wait to be seated." They also had a menu to choose from that looked like a real menu. They learned about table manners and had a very good time!

I'm making Brennan a photo book for this school year and I'm thinking it will just be something I do every year. I take pictures of him with everything he makes, field trips, his outfits, etc. So far it is turning out really cute!

When Brennan came home I wanted to get picture of him with what he made in class today as well as in his fancy little outfit. Well, he was playing with June Bug so I got some pictures of the two of them playing:)

Sometimes June will let Brennan pet her, but usually she "hits" him. It's pretty funny and he actually thinks its funny too. Although the first time he did not-he came to us crying and said "Mommy, she hit me!"

Obviously it didn't hurt anything, except his feelings:)

He loves her so much and he loves to play with her and get goodnight kisses and hugs from her (this is her least favorite part of the day!) Today we were playing with her with a ball of paper. She reminds me so much of one of our kitties that ran away last summer. She carries the paper around in her mouth and plays fetch. Brennan had a whole piece of paper today that he balled up and she even picked that up...it was pretty funny as you can see!
